The Help
I just finished watching this movie and I almost cried. :(
I’m not being exaggerated, but yeah, it was that dramatic!
It was about the racism way back then. Like all those bitchy white women (pertaining to the past, not to women nowadays, but if you’re a racist white bitch, go fuck yourself. :D) that mostly step on the rights of black women who they think doesn’t have rights. Well, I guess, we are lucky that we are living in a very diverse world. The movie was about black people and racism, like in general, but it focuses on the maids who were treated as slaves by some other white women.
Skeeter / Eugenia, decides to make a book about these maids, and their experiences working as “The Help”. She decides to interview the maid of her friend, named Abilene, first to give her help to her job as a columnist, but she then further decides to ask for Abilene’s help in order for her to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer.
It was illegal back then to do something like what Skeeter is doing. Black people are not allowed to protest against white people. But that didn’t stop Skeeter and Abilene. They then had the chance to ask for Minny’s help in order to add to Abilene’s testimonial for the book. At first, Minny refuses Skeeter’s offer but then realizes that she wanted to help. Until stuff happen and much more maids decide to help Skeeter and Abilene in finishing up the book.
I’m really getting sleepy and I still have work tomorrow morning. -_-
But just for the best part of the movie for me is the ending. When Hilly’s accusing Abilene of stealing her employer’s silvers. Hilly asks her friend to fire Abilene. When Hilly’s friend (I forgot her name, but she’s the blonde mother) asks Abilene to go and Abilene is saying goodbye to baby girl (Moe Mobley), that part almost made me cry! Like when the baby is saying “You is smart, you is important, blahblahblah”, that part is just soooooooo touching! The baby is sooo cute and like there is so much drama in it! And when Abilene’s walking away from the house and the girl is crying and calling her name out made me even sadder!
The movie is worth the watch. It may be 2 hours long, but it is really worth it! We should be happy with the diverse society that we are living in today.
Okay, I should sleep. K bye! :)
